Make a Difference

The Arc has an extremely active volunteer program, involving hundreds of community members who donate their time and talent to help achieve full community life for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Volunteers are needed for:

  • Committees
  • Community Activities
  • One-on-One interactive activities
  • Administrative support
  • Maintenance
  • Practicums and internships
  • Monitoring and Advising (Agency Quality Enhancement)

Success stories

Some of the creative ways volunteers have made a difference at The Arc are:

Singer Margot Vincent provides a musical activity for people in the Day Program.

Sisters Cindy Devereux and Terry Junggust painted a colorful mural enhancing an entire wall in The Day Program.

The faith-based group, DreamBuilders, has renovated several of The Arc’s residences.

The Howard County Garden Club created a memorial garden at The Arc honoring club members Lillian Clark, Mattie Taylor and Helen Wright.

Contact Lisa Kawata or Kathy Swanson to discuss volunteer opportunities.
